AA-ABOUT – Architecture Acts

Architecture Acts is a multidisciplinary and award-winning platform for Art and Architecture based in Prague. Founded and directed by Hana Petrik and Martin Kropac. Architecture Acts is an open-ended dialogue and rigorous exploration of the field with international team of talented collaborators, current and past.

Both Hana and Martin have extensive experience working as architects in renowned architectural firms in Madrid, Los Angeles and New York.

Currently the office is working on multitude of projects ranging from exhibition design, residential and cultural projects, workshops, lectures to urban plans and large-scale developments.

Hana Petrik studied Design Theory at University of Liechtenstein in the studio of Xavier Calderon. She has been a visiting scholar at UDK Berlin in the studio of Weil Arets. Her architectural endeavors began at Czech Technical University in Prague and continued at Kansas State University. Hana has worked as an architect in Aspen, Los Angeles and New York.

Martin Kropac received his postgraduate degree in architecture at Columbia University in New York after studying architecture at Kansas State University and Czech Technical University in Prague. He has studied and worked in the studio of Alberto Campo Baeza in Madrid. He is the winner of the ABF Young Architect Award 2009 as well as several scholarships including a Columbia research grant to study modern Brazilian architecture of João Batista Vilanova Artigas. After graduation from GSAPP, Martin worked in New York at Steven Holl Architects and taught studio and various courses at the School of Architecture and Design NYIT. He is a licensed architect in the Czech Republic and a doctoral candidate at the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague.

JAKUB WIESNER

Jakub brings expertise in architectural detail and passion for functional whole. He rejects non-essential and insists on critical precision. His second favorite thing to do - archery - also begins with arch.

SUSAN AL-HUSSEIN

Susan was born in Kosice, Slovakia. She studied architectre under the Erasmus program at Tampere Technical University, Finland. In 2020 she finished her studies with a master degree in architecture at the Czech Technical University in Prague.

MARTIN ŘEZÁČ

Optimism and richness of early Koolhass work is evident in Martin's work. He became expert on futuristic complex merging geometries and old-school display methods.

SPYRIDOULA SOPIADOU

Sisi comes from the city of Thessaloniki in Greece. She joins Architecture Acts with experience working for several architectural studios in Prague.

HANA HUCIKOVA

Hana is a young architect and freelancer with long working and academic experience in Czech republic and abroad. In the studio she is an essential collaborator and contributor, helping dreams come true, projects done right and ideas built. She does not usually wear glasses, she is very smart naturally.

DAVID LASEK

David joins the team in the midst of his spring semester at the Faculty of Architecture in Prague. He comes from a great Czech town Litomysl, the birthplace of classical composer Bedrich Smetana, whose influence on David's sense for composition is a self evident quality that he brings in the creative process.
